Training Advice: Start of the Year, Start Slow

Because most of us have been very relaxed and motionless over the last couple of weeks it’s important that we don’t start training too hard, too early this year. Many people make some hellish new year’s ‘fitness’ resolutions and find that they can’t keep the training up to the standard that they have set for themselves. No shock there. I once tried to run a 10km race off no training thinking that it would be ‘kosher’ just like the old days (when I was fit) and found that after 2km I was gone because I had no ‘base’ fitness. Don’t worry, my Dad was pretty quick to remind me of this. So if your starting training this week or next take your time and get the feeling back first before you go and blow your ‘fufu’ valve.
